Woman ends 90-day meditation

BANKE: Manokranti Mata Yogini Ganga Paudel aka Dan who had confined herself to a nine-feet ditch for a 90-day meditation came out of her den today.

She had been in an underground meditative fast at Bhanar Maidan of Banke’s Jamunaha VDC since 26 March.

A crowd of onlookers had flocked to the holy venue. As a skinny Dan stepped out of the ditch, a programme was held in her honour. Her parents had gone there all the way from Baglung.

Dr Sanket Rijal, a physician at Bheri Zonal Hospital, who was present on the occasion, claimed that Dan had eaten during her underground stay, as it would be impossible to survive without food for such a long time.

The woman who had undergone the months-long ordeal refused to speak to the crowd.

Manokranti Guru Dr Yogi Bikasananda, who came to Nepalgunj from the capital, claimed that Dan was the first in the world to mediate underground for 90 days without food. He urged physicians to find causes behind her success.

Artiste Gauri Malla was also present on the occasion to congratulate Yogini Dan. The place will be declared a meditation spot today.
