KANCHANPUR: A woman was found dead in the Mahakali River near Brahmadev in Kanchanpur district on Thursday.

The identity of the woman, assumed to be around 65, is yet to be ascertained.

Indian police had informed Nepali counterparts after discovering the body.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kedar Khanal said that a team from the Brahmadev Area Police Office has been sent to the incident site following the information.

He said that the body might have been washed away downstream from the mountainous area as local people said that the body did not belong to their villages.
