KAPILVASTU: An unidentified gang hacked a woman to death in Magurgarh of Rajapur VDC-8 in the district Friday night. After the gang thrashed Jamuna Bhushal and her son Narayan mercilessly, the mother died instantly. Seriously injured in the beating, Narayan is being treated at Lumbini Zonal Hospital, police said. The locals knew about the incident only in the morning after they spotted Narayan being tied to a pole outside of the house. Jamuna was a widow who is survived by three sons, two of whom are in India for employment.

According to the police, the attackers chopped her in seventeen different places on her body. Narayan also had his body parts chopped in seven places. Police detained two locals in connection with the incident.
