Woman killed in Dailekh landslide

DAILEKH: A woman died when a landslide buried her house in Pipalbot of Dailekh district last night.

Geeta Thapa (35) of Pipalbot VDC-4 died when the landslide buried her house while she was preparing foods.

Her 58-year-old mother Dhana Devi also sustained minor injuries in the incident.

It is noted that the landslide had swept away nine houses in the settlement which lies on the Dailekh-Kalikot border line.

Ranga Bahadur BK had gone missing in the landslide and the search is underway, said Sub Inspector Bir Bahadur Oli at the Dailekh District Police Office.

Chief District Officer Luk Bahadur Chhetri, who made an onsite observation of the landslide site, has granted Rs 25,000 as an immediate relief to the deceased’s mother.

The landslide had also swept away a tractor and a motorbike.
