Siraha, May 24:

A Muslim woman was done to death on Tuesday night by her husband and in-laws for allegedly not bringing enough dowry.

Phulo Khatoon, 21, of Ramaul Tole in Siraha municipality-4 was poisoned by her husband and in-laws, said Inspector Janak Lal Chaudhari at the District Police Office.

Phulo’s five-year-old son Aman told the police that his father Mohammed Nizam and other members of the family thrashed her mercilessly on Tuesday for not bringing enough dowry. Phulo breathed her last on the way to a hospital in Jaynagar of India. Her husband and in-laws have been absconding, police said.

A neighbour, Mohammed Rizwan, said Phulo’s husband and in-laws had been torturing her for some weeks. Police are probing the incident.
