NAWALPUR: A woman has sustained critical injuries after being stabbed and attacked with acid in Kawasoti Municipality-16 of Nawalpur district.

According to Nawalpur District Police Office, the victim has been identified as 30-year-old Basanti Pariyar of Harwasi in Kawasoti-16.

Pariyar was attacked on Monday night by 37-year-old Bimal Sirpali of the same locality for not accepting his marriage proposal, said police.

Police further informed that Pariyar has received injuries on her chest and face and is in a critical state. She is currently receiving treatment in Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan.

Meanwhile, Sirpali has been taken into police custody and further investigation into the case is underway.

It has been learnt that both Pariyar and Sirpali were already married.
