LAHAN: Body of a woman was found in unaccounted for condition in Lahan Municipality-1 of Siraha district on Friday morning.

The deceased who appeared to be in her late 20s bore injury on her head, said the Lahan-based Area Police Office.

Police reached the incident site after they were informed by the locals who came across the body, at Singrahi, at around 6:00 am today.

According to the APO Duty Officer Head Constable Pej Bahadur Khadka, the sari and blouse of the woman were torn and disarranged, that partly exposed her bosom.

The Preliminary investigation showed that the woman might have been raped before being stoned to death, Deputy Superintendent of Police Heera Bahadur Pandey at the APO said.

It is yet to establish the identification of the deceased.

The body was sent to the local Ram Prasad Uma Memorial Hospital for the postmortem, however, police are further rearranging to send it to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

Investigation into the case is underway, said police.
