Women face psychosocial problem after quake

BANEPA: Women have appeared to be more vulnerable to psychosocial problems even after the three months of the devastating April 25 ‘Gorkha Earthquake’.

At a psychosocial counselling programme organised in Panchkhal of Kavre district on Sunday, most of the women of above 32 years are learnt to have faced such problems after the quake.

According to Chairwoman of Tamang Women Ghedung Mayalu Tamang, women have developed the problems of separation anxiety, feeling of frequent fear, loss of appetite and others in the post-quake period.

Likewise, some men attending the programme said that they have also faced same problems after the quake.

Tamang said that the participants were informed about the possible psychosocial risks during the programme.

The quake survivors were informed on topics like general awareness, legal consultations, possible risks that could appear while shifting the residing areas and others.

A total of 135 participants from Devbhumi, Baluwa, Anekot and other areas attended the programme.
