Women rescued from Kanchanpur border point

KANCHANPUR:  Kanchanpur-based Maiti Nepal  on Saturday evening rescued two women who were about to be trafficked to India, from Gaddachauki border point in the district.

The duo- one in her early twenties and the other in early thirties who hail from Sindhupalchok and Solukhumbu  respectively- were being duped with the prospect of foreign employment.

They  were being taken on a bus (Ba 3 Kha 4168) to New Delhi, India from Kathmandu when the anti-trafficking organisation made the interception and rescued them.

"We rescued the women as one of them was wearing a Lama's rob under the pretext of being sent to Dharmasala in India," Maiti Nepal Kanchanpur Coordinator, Maheshwori Bhatta said.

Another woman had been asked by the traffickers to wear Sherpa attire but she had declined, it was revealed in course of an interrogation.
