Four women, on the verge of being trafficked to Kuwait, rescued

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested a man for his alleged involvement in human trafficking and rescued four women from his clutches from Imadol of Lalitpur.

The women were held captive in the rented room of Khadananda Kandel, who had allegedly assured them of lucrative jobs in Kuwait, the Nepal Police's Metropolitan Crime Division said.

They were kept in Kandel's room and waiting to be flown to the Gulf kingdom.

The Metropolitan Crime Division deployed a team in the search of Kandel, a permanent resident of Babiyachaur-6 in Surkhet district, after a woman who recently returned from Oman had filed a complaint against him.

The woman had accused Kandel of trafficking her to Oman on the pretext of foreign employment.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the suspect had been involved in targeting gullible women and sending them to the Gulf countries without acquiring labour permits for last two years.

Meanwhile, police have sent the suspect to the Metropolitan Police Range for further investigation today itself.
