Kathmandu, February 9:

Norwegian ambassador to Nepal, Tore Toreng, urged the members of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) to work for the protection of the rights of citizens of Nepal.

Toreng said so during a meeting today with the country’s prominent lawyers including president and the members of the NBA. Toreng visited the NBA office in order to know the rights situation in the country after the imposition of emergency.

He assured the NBA that Norway has always been in favour of the Nepali citizens and their rights. “He also discussed the possible role that the NBA can play in the present situation and his country’s support,” NBA general secretary Madhav Banskota said issuing a circular.

According to Banskota, Toreng also held discussions on the Norwegian Bar-supported NBA’s Legal Aid Project.
