World Habitat Day marked

Chitwan, October 3:

Speakers at a programme organised by City Development and Construction Department, Division Office, here today to mark World Habitat Day-2005 said the situation of urban poverty around the world was more frightening than that of rural poverty, and solving this problem was one of the biggest challenges facing the world. The speakers also stressed the need for adequate physical infrastructure for increasing population in the cities.

During the programme, Chairman of Chitwan DDC, Tej Prasad Gartaula, said every sector must cooperate to build necessary infrastructure in the cities. He hoped that the gap between policies and implementation would narrow this year with the UN slogan for World Habitat Day-2005: “Millennium Development Goal and City.”
