Worn out info boards at govt offices perplex service seekers

BIRATNAGAR: Service seekers have been facing problem to get their office chores done promptly as the boards containing instructions related to the services offered by various government offices have been either worn out or simply invisible.

One can hardly make out the scripts on such "civil charter boards" put up at the government offices in Biratnagar.

Among other around 40 government offices, the local residents have been facing problem at Morang District Administration Office. "Due to lack of knowledge of the proceedings in the official chores, it has been taking long time in to get the things done," said one.

Not only this, the boards in many other offices have been displayed either at the interior or not visible areas.

The one at Divisional Road Office is put up inside the office building nearby the rest room. Similarly, District Police Office's board contains very small letters which is quite difficult to decipher easily.

Basudev Shah, a resident of Biratnagar 19, said that he had to waste time for enquiring related information as he couldn't understand the process related to making some official documents. "The letters written on the board could not be deciphered as the colour was already faded."

Upon enquiry, government officials tell us to do this and that but they don't tell us the things we want to know, Shah alleged.

CDO Shashi Shekhar Shrestha said that the civic charter boards should be put up in a visible area by all offices so as to inform the service seekers easily.

According to a research carried out in 12 VDCs of Morang district, only 34.5 per cent service seekers go through the boards to acquire information for the service.
