Call to conserve Buddha-era ruins

KAPILVASTU: Outgoing Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai along with a team of Chinese officials today toured archaeological sites in Kapilvastu district.

The seven-member team also called concerned stakeholders to conserve various Buddha-era ruins there.

They had toured Lord Buddha's birthplace in Lumbini, the ancient Tilaurakot Durbar where Buddha spent 29 years, Krakuchhanda Buddha's birthplace at Gotihawa and Kanakmuni Buddha's birthplace at Niglihawa.

They were briefed on Lumbini and ancient Kapilvastu's Buddha-era structures and places by Lumbini Development Trust Member Secretary, Ajit Man Tamang.

The Chinese team had expressed concerns over the absence of efforts to conserve the ancient Buddhist structures.
