Yadav threatens to quit coalition, CA over Madhes

Kathmandu, January 22:

Chairperson of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Upendra Yadav today warned that his party would walk out not only of the government but also of the CA if the core Madhes issues were not addressed.

Addressing an interaction at the Reporters’ Club, Yadav said the central committee of the party would soon issue an ultimatum to the government to implement the agreements signed between the Madhesi parties and the government.

“The day we feel the CA will not ensure equal rights to the Madhesis, we will walk out of it,” Yadav warned. He said Madhes autonomy and the right to self-determination were the core issues for the Madhes.

In response to a journalist’s query, Yadav said the second general convention of the party helped establish the party as a social democratic outfit.

Yadav said his party would endeavour to unite all the democratic forces of the Madhes under one umbrella and if that were not possible, then they would try to forge functional unity among them. He said Bijay Kumar Gachhadar would be nominated to the central committee and would hold the position of senior leader.
