Yadav warns of Valley-centric stir

Kathmandu: Chair of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav said Newar community of Kathmandu and Tamang community from the neighbouring districts need to intensify Kathmandu centric agitation in order to make the current agitation a success.  He said unless the Newar and Tamang communities joined the struggle, the government would not feel the heat. Yadav said this while addressing an interaction organised by Socialist Tamang Forum in the capital on Satruday.  Stating that the government was not ready to empower the marginalised communities of the country, Yadav said there was no alternative to street movement. He said the agitation could be taken to a logical conclusion only when Madhesis, Newars and Tamang join the agitation.  “Our agitation is for empowering Madhesis, indigenous nationalities, Tharus, Dalits, Muslims and other marginalised and deprived communities and we will continue our agitation till our demands are met,” he said. Yadav accused the government of being corrupt and said the government ignored the current agitation only to mask its failures and misrule. He said the United Democratic Madhesi Front was serious about finding a negotiated settlement of the political issues but the government was not serious about the same.
