YCL cadres thrash govt employees

Rajbiraj, August 8:

The Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League cadres today beat up two government employees, including section officer at the Saptari district land reforms office Prem Dahal. The cadres led by Arun Kumar Shah ‘Anil’ also beat up non-gazetted officer Surendra Yadav.

Dahal said the YCL cadres, who were looking for land reforms officer Diwakar Bastola, got infuriated when they could not find Banstola. The infuriated cadres attacked me when they came to know that Banstola had gone to the district administration office, Dahal said, adding that they accused me of lying and attacked me. Yadav was beaten when he tried to stop the YCL cadres, an employee at the office said.

The office employees took under control YCL central member Shah, his wife Sharmila and Ram Chandra Yadav and informed the police about the incident. Deputy superintendent of police Bharat Bahadur Pradhan said YCL cadres were also hurt in a clash with the police.

YCL central member Umesh Kumar Yadav said the dispute ensued after section officer Dahal lied by saying that Shah was not in the office. He accused Dahal of verbally abusing and attacking YCL cadres. Police detained three YCL cadres after the incident. Meanwhile, demanding the release of their detained comrades, YCL cadres brought traffic to a halt in Rupani and Kadamaha.
