Biratnagar, October 28:

The UML-affiliated Youth Force (YF) cadres seized two cartoons of firecrackers from Biratnagar airport today.

“Acting on a tip-off, we seized the firecrackers that were being transported to Kathmandu,” said YF district joint in-charge Suresh Shrestha. He claimed that two senior officers were trying to send the contraband to the capital.

Among the seized cartoons, one belonged to SP Yogendra Katwal and another to Roshan Acharya, inspector at Rani Area Police Office, he said.

However, Katwal refuted the charges levelled against him and said Acharya might have behind the incident.

On the other hand, Acharya also denied his involvement and said his senior officers might have sent the cartoons. Shrestha said that the firecrackers were destroyed following the seizure.
