YF shuts Biratnagar, five hurt in clash
BIRATNAGAR: Protesting the attack on Youth Force’s (YF) Morang in-charge Parsu Basnet by an unidentified group, YF activists enforced Biratnagar bandh today. Buses on both short and long routes remained off the road due to the bandh. The bandh enforcers also clashed with the police.
In the ensuing clash, five persons including All Nepal National Free Students’ Union central member Wasim Alam were injured. The agitating youths had brought the market, transportation, educational institutions and some industries to a standstill from early morning. However, no untoward incidents were reported.
Youth Force cadres organised a protest meet at the Janaandolan Chowk demanding action against the culprits and security to the people.
The demonstrators also submitted a memorandum to the District Administration Office Morang.
A joint meeting of Youth Force, Tarun Dal and Young Communist League Morang has decided to extend all possible support to help the police in taking such criminal incidents under control.
Meanwhile, Biratnagar based Nobel Medical College in a press release about the health condition of the injured Basnet said bullets have broken bones of his lower abdomen into pieces and hurt the intestines. Dr Rabindra Kumar Yadav said that though Basnet’s condition is critical he can be cured.
A group of unidentified people had opened fire at Basnet at Janapathtole in Biratnagar yesterday. Two bullets have been recovered from his leg and back. Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (Goit group) and Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Rajan group) have owned up the responsibility of the incident.
