CHITWAN: With an initiative of the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee of Chitwan, non- government organisations and members of the general public are distributing corrugated sheets to 177 households hit by the devastating April 25 earthquake and its subsequent aftershocks.

The households are being relocated toward a safer place.

According to the Chief District Officer, Binod Prakash Singh, the organisations and people have pledged to provide Rs 2.7 million to buy 360 bundles of corrugated sheets.

However, due to the shortage of the zinc sheets in the market, they are unable to buy it immediately, informed Singh.

Earlier, the Committee had announced to shift the households of hilly VDCs of the district to other safe places.

Singh further said the temporary shelters will be made with the help of security personnel, members of political parties and local people, utilising local resources and the zinc sheets to be donated by the organisations.
