KATHMANDU: The audition round for the Global Battle of Bands Challenge 2009 held at Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory (KJC) on October 27 saw many rocking bands belt out various genres.
Among the many that participated to represent Nepal in the Global Battle of Bands going to be held in Scala, London, five bands have been shortlisted for the final audition, which will be held on November 7.

Ashesh Dangol from Ashesh and Nekhvam were the judges for the first audition round.
The five bands that got through to the final audition round are Jindabaad, Kaal Bhairav, ALT F4, E.quals and Sutra.
All bands sang original numbers. Jindabaad sang Shades of You, while Kaal Bhairav had a blast with their song Screaming Angel. ALT F4 breezed into the finals with their rocking performance Swikara while Sutra’s Dalli Resham was a treat for all those who love classical fusion.
Performance-wise, E.quals were second to none as they sang head banging numbers — Now We Are Even.
Including Nepal, 44 bands from around the world will be competing against each other in London on December 13. Besides being declared the world’s best band of 2009, the winning band will walk away with $1,00,000, a special gold ‘Best New Band in the World’ statue, and go a world tour.
THT LIVE is the official voting partner. Judges will get 60 per cent authority to decide the winning band, while SMS voting will account for 40 per cent in judging which band that will represent Nepal in the Global Battle of Band Challenge stated to be the world’s biggest live music challenge.
Voting lines will be open from October 30 to November 7.
