KATHMANDU: Three top leaders of major political parties NC president Girija Prasad Koirala, UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal vowed for peace on the occasion of the 140th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, founder of non- violence and the World Non-violence day, in the capital on Friday.
Speaking at a programme organised by Takshashila Academy and Centre for Democracy and Development in Bishal Bazaar, octogenarian leader Koirala urged all to go ahead and follow Gandhi's path. He thanked Dahal for adopting non-violence saying that Dahal had come to the peace path after abandoning weapons.
Former PM Dahal said that peace and the new statute cannot be achieved unless the violence ends.
Likewise, the UML chairman stressed the need of non-violence in the nation. He said that his party is ready to find the solution to the present political deadlock at any cost regardless of its party interests.
