KATHMANDU: Thankas and eye-catching oil paintings are on display at the ‘Caravan Art Show’ at Summit Hotel, Kupondole.

With a view to promote local artists, more than 60 thankas and 10 oil paintings by various artists are on display here.

Yogesh Shrestha, the only painter in the group who has made oil paintings, and has painted Fewa Lake, Ghandruk, Thangboche monastery and many other famous places of Nepal.

Pema Lama, Ratna Lama, Bikash Lama, Navin Chitrakar and many other thanka painters’ works are on a display. “Many thanka paintings displayed here will be exported. Our intention by organising this exhibition is to promote our painters amongst foreigners,” said Narayan Shrestha, promoter of the event, adding, “This is not a commercial exhibition, but if visitors like the paintings and want to buy them, we will provide them at a cheaper rate.”

The exhibition has got its unique name after the name of the hotel’s hall ‘Caravan’ in which the exhibition is put up.

Shrestha added, “If the exhibition is successful, we will be promoting many artists in the near future.”

The exhibition is on till April 30.
