KATHMANDU: CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal met UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's residence in Naya Bazaar, Kathmandu on Thursday morning.
After the meeting, Khanal said that the duo discussed the current political crisis on building consensus among the parties. He informed that they will also discuss with Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala in the afternoon. Dr Baburam Bhattarai, vice chairman of the Maoists also attended the meeting.
Likewise, the dialogue teams of both parties- the UML and the Maoist conferred in Singha Durbar. According to Yuva Raj Gyawali, UML secretary the parleys are nearing consensus. However, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Maoist vice chairman said that there are differences between the parties. He stated that the demands raised by the Maoists should be addressed in the common resolution including civilian supremacy. Along with Shrestha, Maoists leaders Post Bahadur Bogati and Netra Bikram Chand and UML leaders Keshav Badal, Pradip Gyawali, Parshu Ram Meghi Gurung and Urmila Artyal attended the meeting.
Similarly, Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood called on Maoist chairman Dahal. It is reported that the duo discussed the present political crisis including the constitution making process and the ongoing peace process.
