KATHMANDU: CPN-UML ministers blamed their Unified CPN-Maoist counterparts of interference. They made this allegation at the Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting, which was held at Singha Durbar today.
Dr Baburam Bhattarai-led Finance Min istry was singled out for meddling with affairs in several ministries, including Local Development and Industries.
"The lawmakers objected to the Maoists' intervention. UML ministers were urged to play a pro-active role in the cabinet to correct the anomalies," said UML chief whip Bhim Acharya. UML boss Jhala Nath Khanal instructed his party's representatives in the government to carry on with result-oriented works.
UML Constituent Assembly (CA) members also alleged mis use of state coffers by the Maoist ministers. "Dr Bhattarai's name figured for mismanagement of funds for the self-employment programme," said Acharya. CA members also criticised the UML ministers for their "poor performance". CA member Netra Panthi endorsed the view.
According to the UML chief whip, discussions were held on worsening law and order situation, Maoists' atrocities and their flouting of the common minimum programme in the coalition government.
Four UML ministers - Bam Dev Gautam, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Ram Chandra Jha and Gopal Shakya - responded to the lawmakers' queries. Minister for Water Resources Bishnu Paudel was absent in today's meeting.
"Statute drafting process, budget for the next fiscal and how to deal with other parties were also discussed," added Panthi.
