KATHMANDU: Indian army chief Gen Deepak Kapoor will be here tomorrow on a four-day visit on the invitation of Chief of Army Staff Gen Chhatra Man Singh Gurung.
During his stay here, Gen Kapoor will meet Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Defence Minister Bidaya Bhandari and CoAS Gurung. He is scheduled to visit western division of the Nepali Army, Mustang and Kavre districts.
According to NA, Gen Kapoor will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at martyrs’ memorial tomorrow.
On Wednesday, Gen Kapoor will fly to Military Academy in Mustang. The Mustang-based academy imparts jungle warfare training. According to NA sources, some South Asian countries are keen to send army personnel there for training.
Gen Kapoor will also visit pension distribution camp located in Pokhara and visit western division of Nepali Army in Pokhara on the same day.
On Thursday, Gen Kapoor will visit the training centre for peace keeping mission in Panchakhal in Kavre district.
President Ram Baran Yadav will award Kapoor the honourary rank of General of Nepali Army during a special function at the President’s office in Shital Niwas on Thursday evening.
