RAUTAHAT: A clash between locals and police in Rajpur Fardahawa on Friday injured around 20 including four policemen.
The clash ensued when a debate arouse on scholarships and textbooks distribution in Shree Janata Secondary School. Police opened fire when locals started vandalising the police station. Teacher Ganesh Prasad Gaiswal, undergoing treatment in Gaur Hospital, was seriously injured. An inspector and three constables were also injured in the clash.
Police fired 20 rounds into the air to disperse irate mobs. Locals damaged two police vans and a motorcycle.
According to a local, the police beat up chairman of management committee of Shree Janata Secondary School Kiran Shah accusing him of being involved in the vandalism.
Locals beat up the school principal Dinesh Chaudary on Wednesday accusing him of being involved in irregularities in recruiting teachers. Police had earlier declared a prohibitory region around the area to prevent untoward incidents.
