BIRGUNJ: One person was shot during a meeting held to settle a dispute over the selection of a teacher for Nepal Rastriya Primary School in Katibaluwa of Parshurampur VDC this afternoon.
Anokhilal Chaudhari, 20, a local resident, was injured in the stomach, when an unidentified person opened fire while the meeting was being held inside the school premises. Critically injured Chaudhari has been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment, police said.
Teacher appointment procedure of the school management committee had been disputed. Dispute occurred between the Maoists on one side and NC and UML supporters on the other.
The school has remained closed for two weeks, hampering the study of more than 200 students.
Teaching learning activities in dozen schools in other rural areas of the district have been affected ever since the DEO entrusted the school management committee with the responsibility to appoint relief quota teachers.
