KATHMANDU: The faction of the the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum led by Bijay Kumar Gachhadar on Monday formally informed Constituent Assembly chairperson Subas Nembang that the MJF had not withdrawn its support to the UML-led government.
Earlier, the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the largest Madhes-based party had sent a letter to Nembang, informing the latter about the withdrawal of the support to the government.
Handing over a letter to Nembang, Gachhadar claim-ed that the party was in the government and not in the opposition as informed by the party’s faction led by party chairman Upendra Yadav. Gachhadar also requested the CA chairperson to ensure that the party lawmakers get to sit on the ruling bench.
Gachhadar-led faction also informed Nembang that the party had taken the decision to join the government during its parliamentary party and political committee meetings.
Talking to this daily today, Ram Janam Chaudhary, said, “All organs of our party — the central committee, parliamentary party and the political committee — had decided to join the UML-led government on majority basis.”
Saying that Yadav had already signed the CMP of the coalition government, Chaudhary said the party had no authority to withdraw its support to the government.
