Kathmandu: For all the music lovers, when the days are passing by without any punchy concerts in the valley, Fête de la musique, the international music week is just around the corner. This year the event is to be held from June 20 to June 27 at three venues -Alliance Francaise, Rastriya Nachghar and Kathnmandu Jazz Conservatory.
Nepalis and international musicans will be performing their hearts out at the various venues. “Internationally this music festival is like a liberation day for artistes around the world, a day no one will prohibit you to exhibit musical talents,” said Philippe Martin, Director of Alliance Francaise.
This year audiences will have a different taste that will not only compromise of musical performances from various talented bands and solo singers but Hip Hop dancing along with children’s performance as well. Moreover, the presence of Kwak, a band from France, has stirred high expectations among people. Kwak will be performing on June 27 at Rastriya Nachghar starting from 5 pm (by invitation only).
The schedule for the events is as follows:
• June 20, 11am, performing Home2Home (A musical happening with children. An EarthBeat project with Salil Subedi Kanika.)
• June 21, 3:30 pm-Astha Tamang-Maskey, X-iT, NE:BA, Stilloth & Electrix
• June 22, 4 pm, Hip-Hop Day with various uprising groups.
• June 25, 6:30 pm- Lecture (Jazz History by Mariano E Abello in collaboration with KJC.)
• June 26, 6:30 pm, Jazz Day (Several Jazz musicians from Kathmandu in collaboration with the KJC).
The event is being organised by Alliance Francaise and Tuborg Beer.
