KATHMANDU: Eventually Nepal had something to cheer about with the side registering a 9 wicket win over Singapore in a playoff at the ACC T20 Elite Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
With the win, Nepal stands fifth on the point chart.
Taking the field first, Nepal restricted Singapore to a paltry 90 runs and chased down the target with more than 5 overs remaining in the innings.
The Nepali chase largely revolved around a match winning innings from Dipendra Chaudhary (49). Nepal lost opener Mehaboob Alam just for 2 runs, while dubutant Naresh Bhudhayar remained 32 not out at the end of the match.
Earlier, bowling duo Sanjam Regmi and former skipper Binod Das snared 6 wickets between them.
