KATHMANDU: Nepal registered a nail-biting victory in its second match against Kuwait in the ACC T20 Elite Cup in the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
Chasing a modest total of 124, Nepal could muster only 123 runs from its maximum 20 overs, requiring the match’s result to be decided through a bowl-out, in which Nepal outplayed Kuwait 3-2.
Skipper Paras Khadka, Dipendra Chaudhary and Shakti Gauchan hit the stumps for the Nepali side.
Earlier, Kuwaiti innings was bundled out for 123 runs off 19.1 overs, with Dipendra Chaudhary putting on an impressive bowling display that included four Kuwaiti scalps.
Chaudhary was ably supported by his spinner Basanta Regmi who grabbed two wickets. Pacer Binod Das and all-rounder Mehaboob Alam snared one witch apiece.
Nepal’s hope apparently seemed over, when they needed seven runs to turn the match to their favour with just one ball remaining.
However, Nepali batsman Binod Bhandari lofted the last ball of the match for a six making imminent a bowl-out for a clear result.
Nepal’s run chase owed much to the like of all rounder Mehboob , who top scored for the side with a crispy 32.
