KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who was on his way to attend a programme to mark Indra Jatra festival in Hanuman Dhoka, Basantapur was greeted with black flags by the cadres of UCPN-Maoist on Thursday afternoon. They even pelted stones on the PM in New Road near Basantapur Durbar Square and chanted anti-government slogans.
Earlier on Monday the PM who was attending a programme to lay the foundation stone of the Chamber Guest Building, Dharan had a similar experience with the UCPN-Maoist cadres. The UCPN-Maoist has announced that they would greet the PM with black flags whenever he attends any programme as per their protests.
Meanwhile, the UCPN-Maoist cadres also greeted the President with black flags when he was at a programme organised on the occasion of Indra Jatra. The police detained a few protestors following the incident. The security in the Basantapur area has been tightened to foil such activities.
