KATHMANDU: Artha — Meaning of love, debutant singer Buddha Shakya’s album was released on September 4 at DECC.
The album released by Reeyaz Music was jointly unveiled by lyricist Durga Lal Shrestha, musician Nyhoo Bajracharya, Sayendra Shrestha and the singer himself. All the people involved in the making of the album were presented a token of love by Suman Shrestha, MD, Reeyaz Music.
Shakya sang two songs from the album — Kahile Kasto and Parkha Na Jau Tarki, while the music video of the former was also premiered.
“Nepali music industry is still in need of new talents,” said Shrestha adding that Shakya is one to look forward to. Bajracharya shared that out of the 11 they worked on, seven songs that suited the singer’s vocals have been included in the album. “I hope this album will be meaningful in Shakya’s musical journey as the name of the album is Artha (meaning),” he added.
“The songs are mostly of Sugum Sangeet,” said Shakya adding that though lyricist Shrestha belongs to the older generation, his songs are young at heart. “I do not know if my songs will become popular but I hope they will make a place for themselves in Nepali music,” said Shakya
