KATHMANDU: Since The World Health Organisation (WHO) has made an international call to intensify surveillance for unusual outbreaks of influenza-like illness and severe pneumonia to all nations. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture have kept their officials on high alert against the spreading swine flu. In order to keep vigil on transportation of animals and step up quarantine measures at the international level, the ministries have called for a meeting of the Technical Subcommittee on Avian Influenza on Monday. In Mexico, where the new multi-strain swine flu was first detected, 103 people have died and the pandemic is spreading to US, Europe and New Zealand also.
