Blog Surf: Career choice
About a month ago, my dad’s side of the family had come over to our house for a small get-together. The main topic of discussion was the academic career
of my two nieces and my nephew who had just taken their SSC and HSC examinations. After spending more than twelve to fourteen hours every day
attending coaching classes and burying themselves neck deep in their study books for a year, the poor souls had finally taken their exams and were looking forward to a good break from anything academic. Unfortunately, our little get-together was turning out to be a far cry from the break that they thoroughly deserved.
The young threesome found themselves politely dodging the typical
questions about how they felt they would fare in the exams. I said that my nieces and nephew should ideally follow an educational stream that they are
most inclined to rather than going for a field that has the most lucrative job
openings.
