LETTERS: Meaningless deliberations
The debate on forms of governance continues in the Constituent Assembly with the participation of lawmakers representing different political parties “Forms of governance debate continues in CA” (THT, June 19, Page 5). I still find it difficult to understand why the debate on this issue was necessary when the country was smoothly moving ahead after the restoration of multiparty democracy in 2046/47 Andolan. The same leaders of the major political parties had claimed that the then promulgated constitution was the best among the constitution of other countries. They were the ones to run the country in their own ways. There was nothing wrong with the constitution. They make a mockery of the constitution by not properly abiding by it. As a result, the Maoist insurgency came into existence with a new political agenda taking the opportunity of bad governance of the then political parties.
Even if they change the form of governance it does not mean that the political stability will prevail in the country unless the political leaders themselves bring changes in their personal and political attitudes. In this 21 century, the political parties are still deliberating about the federal structure and forms of governance of the country, as if this is a newly liberated country.
They should have wisely agreed to further strengthen the then decentralization and local self-help governance acts that were scientifically put in place based on the geographical and administrative structures of the country and implement them with sincerity and full commitment, rather than wasting valuable time on the discussion of federalism and forms of governance.
However, let us cross our fingers this time with the hope that the senior leaders of major political parties will timely realize their past blunders and act responsibly.

Teriya’s feat
It was an enthralling victory for Teriya Magar who was declared the winner of Zee TV’s ‘’ DID Li’l Masters ‘’.
During the course of winning the title, she made all the people from Nepal feel proud and happy. Her feat won her the KB3 Cup and INRs 10 lakh at the grand finale. This is one of the most coveted titles for children. Now it is time for our country to recognize this girl.

A shame
According to reports from Ankara, Nepali migrant workers have reportedly been abducted by Islamic militants in Iraq in the recent violent turmoil. It is a shame that the lawmakers want to continue their drama of their determination to write the constitution within January 22 though they know very well that the CA-II is destined to die like the CA-I without giving birth to any constitution. But our leaders are less concerned with the plight of Nepalese workers abroad than with the remittances they send back home by working hard at difficult and hazardous jobs in foreign countries, including Iraq. Instead, the political leaders should bring a clear and trustworthy road-map soon that guarantees the employment of the Nepalese youth in Nepal itself.
