MIDWAY : On schedule

Sticking to a schedule is to act in a time bound manner so that one can prepare a report for presentation, attend a brainstorming session with colleagues or make a final draft of a meeting. These may sound a bit too much but is nothing compared to the official duties of an executive.

Preparing a report requires finesse and a sense of what the content would be like. It has to have substance and related to the agenda so that nothing is overlooked. The main points could be highlighted in bold letters and also numbered for a quick and easy scanning before going into the nitty-gritty of the stuff.

It can be balanced with other material which is also included as an afterthought. A brainstorming session is coming up with concrete ideas even though they seem far fetched. Each one of the members is asked to come up with suggestions, comments and remarks on an upcoming project.

These are recorded to be referred to later on and see if they could be of any use. Anything related to the job at hand is discussed and its merits and demerits listed. So, at the end, these form a complete file on the subject matter.

The final draft of a meeting is prepared with its importance in mind. It could be on any given topic deemed suitable for a round table conference.

Perhaps the board will have in mind the good of the company in terms of financial transactions or its growth, stability and projection by drawing a graph. Whatever is connected is documented and filed away.

The schedule could be tight and demanding but it suits the lifestyle of an executive familiar

with its effects.

He adjusts to the pressure and comes up with measures to cope with it. The demands could be heavy because of the competitive bids by rival companies but he sees to it that

these are taken care of. Handling himself takes top priority because others look to him to take charge of the official matters.

Given the complex nature of the task, he has to come up with a suitable approach.Coming up

with an action plan depends on the facts that are relevant and timely.

And decisions can be based on it. Only by doing so will the business move forward.
