TOPICS: Freedom has limitations

A bird is always taken as a symbol of freedom as it is free to fly. An individual defines freedom as being able to fly like a bird does. But even the bird has limitations and boundary. If it flies above the level of atmosphere where oxygen is thin it becomes hazardous for it.

Today’s youngsters misinterpret freedom as doing whatever they want without considering the consequences they might have to face. A child fights with parents for free life and disrespects the limits of his/her parents which they set to prevent them from wrong action.  A girlfriend/wife fights with her boyfriend/husband for freedom. Yes, freedom must be given to all, women do equally have the right to freedom as men do.

But today’s young ladies define the protector’s and teacher’s role as possessiveness. It is their misconception because the matter cannot be generalized based on problems of a few relations or families. It’s not only man but woman also needs to play the same role of protector and teacher for her man in order to prevent him from walking in wrong path. It’s just a matter of care and love towards each other but not the matter of possessiveness.

It is said that action done within the boundary earns more respect from others. So people need to enjoy the freedom but within certain limits. People misunderstand the real meaning of freedom and its limitations. But they will have to face the ground reality one day which might make them feel regret. So freedom should always carry discipline with it in a parallel way. Even the fundamental rights given by any constitution comes with a package of limitations.

Today’s generation forgets all human values and exploits others to fulfill and cherish their own dreams. We Nepalese are following western culture; it is nice to do so but in reality, we are just following bad aspects more than good ones. This has destroyed our rich culture and tradition. The tradition/values are set by our forefathers as a boundary to our freedom; it’s just to prevent the wrong ones.

The misconception of freedom has increased the crime rate. The pubs, discos, night life, high socialization between the genders are all gifts of western culture which has polluted the young minds and are increasing crimes in the country. We are free in terms of technology but we are unaware about the bad impacts it has on our health and relationships (generally social networks)

Limits have been there not to restrict the freedom but to prevent hazardous happening and that in turn is beneficial to the people themselves for whom the limits were set.
