The blasts that took place Saturday at the Assumption Church, Lalitpur killing two innocent persons and injuring 10 others needs to be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Nepal

has for long been known for its religious tolerance, and this attack was clearly aimed at distrubing the harmony so happily subsisting between Nepalese of different faiths. It is not known now exactly who were behind the bombing, but the attack is owned up by the Nepal Defence Army. This outfit has also claimed responsible for carrying out several attacks in the past. This incident has deeply shocked all the peace loving Nepalese people.

In this hour of grief, the Nepalese people pay their deepest condolences to the victims and their families with earnest hope that such attacks will not take place in the future. In the meantime, the government should be ever vigilant to prevent similar attacks taking place and bring to book the culprits who engage in this sort of heinous attacks. Incidentally, this same group was also responsible for killing a priest near Biratnagar about 10 months ago. This and other such gangs should not be allowed to continue to disturb the social fabric of the country as they apparently intend to.
