11th Soaltee Super Sixes begins on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The 11th edition of the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes cricket tournament is beginning here at

the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Monday.

A total of 24 teams — four each fom corporate and media houses, 15 banks and one embassy — are participating in the October 6-11 event. The teams are divided into eight groups with two each making it to the Super League round. The 16 teams will then be divided into four pools and the top each will advance to the semi-finals.

Group A consists of Citizen International, Nepal Investment Bank and Sanima Bikash Bank, while Spice NEpal, Sunrise Bank and Nepal SBI Bank are in Group B. Bank of Asia, Himalayan Bank, APCA Nepal are in Group C, whereas Indian Embassy, New Business Age and NMB Bank have been drawn in Group D. Likewise, Laxmi Bank, Team Samsung, Standard Chartered are in Group E, while NIC Bank,

Kumari Bank and Siddhartha Bank are in Group F. Surya Nepal, Kantipur Group and hosts Soaltee Crowne Plaza are in Group G and Group H comprises Nabil Bank, Global Bank and Nagarik.

In a bid to make the inauguration ceremony interesting, the Soaltee Crowne Plaza is organising a three-over-a-side match between two veteran teams. General Manager

of Soaltee Crowne Plaza Greesh Bindra will lead a team that includes President of FNCCI Kush Kumar Joshi, President of Kantipur Publications Kailash Sirohiya, CEO of Avenues TV Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Puspa Man Shrestha and President of Cricket Association of Nepal

Binay Raj Pandey. The other team, which will be led by Bishnu Dhakal of Nepal FM Network, comprises President of Unified Maoists

Puspa Kamal Dahal, CPN-UML President Jhala Nath Khanal, Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party President Ram Chandra Poudel, RK Manandhar of Image Channel and Balram Pathak of Soaltee.

“Last year, I had promised to bring in Indian internationals in this edition. Unfortunately, that could not happen this year. But we see the event grow every year,” said Bindra at a press meet. “We are proud to say that we are doing something for the sports tourism,” he added. Soaltee also organises golf tournament every year. Bishnu Dhakal of Nepal FM Network and CAN umpires Binay Kumar Jha and Raman Siwakoti were also present on the occasion.
