Tigers sign Mandal in place of Khakurel

Kathmandu, December 8

Chitwan Tigers have included Anil Mandal in the squad for the Everest Premier League slated for December 18-30 at the Tribhuvan University Stadium.

The Tigers were forced to add a player in the team after Subash Khakurel pulled out because of injury. According to Shambhu Adhikari, Brand Officer of IDS Group Pvt Ltd, doctors advised Khakurel not to take part in the tournament “as he is yet to fully recover from the fractured arm.”

“We are also near to signing three foreign players,” said Adhikari. “We have picked up players with the experience of Indian Premier League and Ranji Trophy and our representatives are currently in India to finalise the paper works. We will announce the foreign players once the formalities are completed,” Adhikari added.

A total of six teams — Kathmandu Kings XI, Lalitpur Patriots, Biratnagar Warriors, Bhairahawa Gladiators, Pokhara Rhinos and Chitwan Tigers — will take part in the EPL, a premier Twenty20 cricket tournament, organised by EPL Pvt Ltd under the sponsorship of Jagadamba Motors Pvt Ltd. The winner of the tournament will be richer by Rs 2.1 million.
