Nepal defeat Namibia by 1 wicket in WCL

KATHMANDU: Nepal has registered one-wicket win over hosts Namibia in the opening match of the ICC World Cricket League Division-II at the WAP Ground on Thursday.

Nepal won the toss and chose to field before bowling out Namibia for paltry 138 runs in 34.2 overs. In reply, Nepal reached to 139-9 in 49.2 overs.

Man-of-the-match Sandeep Lamichhane completed four wickets haul to restrict home side for low total while Sompal Kami claimed three wickets. Likewise, captain Paras Khadka, Basant Regmi and Sharad Vesawkar took one wicket each.

Craig Williams (41) was highest scorer for Namibia while ZE Green and Jan Frylinck contributed 22 runs each.

Similarly, Vesawkar’s 67-ball 29 was best score for Nepal where as Regmi and Khadka made 24 and 19 runs respectively.

Bernard Scholtz was pick of the Namibian bowling as he claimed 4-11 while Williams took three wickets. Likeiwise, JJ Smit and Tangeni Lungameni added one wicket each for Namibia.
