APF in final

KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) Officers’ Club mauled Morang 6-0 to reach the final of the Women’s Football Tournament organised by All Nepal Football Association at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday . Jamuna Gurung struck hat-trick while Anu Lama scored twice and Tej Gurung added another for APF. Chitwan beat Jhapa 2-1 to enter the quarter-final in another match of the day. Anita Gurung and Renuka Bhandari scored for Chitwan while Susmita Lengeli scored for Jhapa. — HNS

MOSCOW: Nadia Petrova of Russia won a third-set tiebreaker to beat Nicole Vaidisova 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (3) and advance to the final at the Kremlin Cup on Saturday. Petrova, who won last week’s Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, has not dropped a set in four matches in Moscow and is chasing her fifth title this season. Petrova will meet Russia’s Anna Chakvetadze a 7-5, 3-6, 6-0 winner over Elena Dementieva in final. — AP

Stockholm Open

STOCKHOLM: Defending champion James Blake edged Robin Soderling 7-5, 7-6 (4) to reach the Stockholm Open final on Saturday. Blake, who won in Bangkok two weeks ago, made his first appearance in the Swedish capital last year and is undefeated in nine matches. Blake has won four ATP titles this season. Only Roger Federer (nine) and Rafael Nadal (five) have won more. — AP
