Baba win bowling title
KATHMANDU: Baba Boarding School accumulated 377 pinfalls to win the Inter-school Bowling Tournament. Abhisekh Gyan Mandir (350) and Gyan Niketan (313) came second and third. Sachet Lamichhane of Abhisekh (126) and Ngima Sherpa of Baba (109) were the highest scorers in the boys and girls sections respectively. The one-day event was organised by Bowling Boulevard in association with The Pioneers. — HNS

LALITPUR: Dambar Rai and Nirmala Thapa of hosts Nakhipot Badminton Circle (NBC) defeated fellow club pair Mani Thapa and Tulasi Limbu 15-11, 15-9 to enter the mixed doubles semi-finals at the fourth Ramailo Invitaional Badminton Tournament here on Friday. Jit Rai and Indra Pun also made it to the last four with a 15-2, 12-15, 15-13 win over fellow NBC duo of hailendra Ghale and Kamala Limbu. Nirmala Thapa and Kamala Limbu entered the ladies doubles semi-finals after they beat Tulasi Limbu and Pampha Sunuwar 23-21, 21-12, while Ram Krishna Dangol and Naresh Tamrakar entered the veterans doubles semi-finals. — HNS

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka issued two commemorative World Cup stamps in a bid to boost their cricketers ahead of the tournament. “What we are trying to do is to encourage the players. We don’t want to put any undue burdens, but just to show the players that the entire nation is behind them,” Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge said. — AFP
