LAHORE: Paceman Shoaib Akhtar was named in Pakistan’s squad for September’s Champions Trophy, capping a remarkable comeback.
He won a court battle in July to temporarily suspend an 18-month ban for disciplinary problems. An original five-year ban was reduced on appeal.
Also staging a return to the squad is wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal. Mohammad Yousuf opted out due to the Ramadan.
Bazid Khan is included in Yousuf’s absence as a specialist batsman and also brought in was opener Khalid Latif. Shahid Afridi is in the squad despite poor recent batting form.
