Akul lifts charity golf trophy

Kathmandu, September 4:

Jutitham Akul won the Golf Championship on Tuesday organised by the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa to generate relief fund for flood victims in tarai.

Akul scored 38 points to win two return tickets to London. Played in stableford format with 3/5 handicap, Ang Tsering Sherpa scored 37 points to finish one stroke behind Akul and was awarded with a two-way tickets to New Delhi. YD Kwon finished third with 36 stableford points.

Eugine Kwon claimed the ladies’ title ahead of Soffie Hamond. Kwon won two air-tickets to Pokhara and three-night stay there. Lt Gen KNS Thapa was the winner in the senior section (age 60 and above) while Himalayan Shumsher Rana won the Super Senior title.

Laxmi Man Maharjan, Hari Rai and Raj Pradhan won Closest-to-the-pin, Most Birdies and Longest Drive award respectively. Pradeep Shumsher Rana bagged the Best sportsmanship award.

In all, 80 golfers participated in the competition played at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa. Apart from the tournament, many other fun activities including ‘monster putt’ was organised to raise fund for the flood victims. All the proceed of the tournament and other events will be donated to the Flood Victim Relief Fund.
