ANFA likely to get Long Term Project from FIFA

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is likely to get a Long Term Project (LTP) from Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA). David Bajro, Development Manager of Asia and Oceania, who is also the chief finance controller in Asian countries, and Jean-Michel Benezet, FIFA Goal Project expert, inspected the infrastucture at ANFA and will submit the report to the world governing body.

“We have prepared a report and will submit to the FIFA, which will study it and decide whether or not to allocate the four-year project,” said Bajro. “ANFA will get the confirmation within two weeks time,” he added.

LTP is an exercise which FIFA does all over the world to see the actual status of football in various countries,” said Bajro. “We were especially pleased with the academy run by ANFA and have found the standard quite high,” he added.

The team met ANFA officials, coaches, referees, medical team and administrative officials, before preparing the document. They also wa-tched the Birthday Cup final between Three Star Club and Mahendra Police Club, wh-ich they found ‘interesting.’

Bajro informed that the document was prepared as per the information provided by ANFA officials and others who met them. Another member Benezet said that he was impressed with the academy project being run by ANFA. “You have talents like the Europeans in the academy,” he said. At present, ANFA has been running two academies — Satdobato and Chyasal.

ANFA president Ganesh Thapa said the team came to inspect the FIFA Goal Projects. “As they are satisfied with our works, we hope to get the project,” he said.
