APF pip departmental rivals TAC, go atop

Nepal APF Club defeated departmental rivals Tribhuvan Army Club 1-0 to top Group B in the 16th National Women’s Football League under the NSC Championship here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.
Both the teams had already advanced to the Super League round and the match decided the group winners. APF won all three matches and earned maximum nine points to top the group, while TAC accumulated six points with two victories.
In the last day’s match, Sabitra Bhandari scored the solitary goal which was enough for APF to register their third victory. Bhandari found the back of the nets in the 50th minute when her left footed volley from the edge of the box left TAC goalkeeper Lila Lamgade stunned. Bhandari, who had scored 12 goals against Mid-west and eight goals against Western, took her personal tally to 21 goals in the competition.
In the match between the two teams already eliminated from the race, Western defeated Mid-western 2-0. Western took the lead after Mid-western’s Sama Karki scored an own goal in the 61st minute, while Sunita BK doubled the tally.
Nepal Police Club and Far-western Region had on Thursday confirmed their berths in the Super League from Group A.
The four teams will now play against each other in the Super League round and the side earning maximum points will be the champions. The Super League round will start from Sunday. NPC will take on TAC, while Far-western will play against Nepal APF Club.
