Army edge Farwest XI in tie-breaker of Hetauda Gold Cup

HETAUDA: The Tribhuvan Army Club have edged past Farwest XI in a tie-breaker to secure mouth watering showdown with Manang Marsyangdi Club in the semi-finals of ongoing 3rd Tuborg Hetauda Gold Cup.

The game went to the tie-breaker after both teams ended 1--1 during the regulation time of game. The departmental team strolled into last four of the tournament after defeating Farwest by 5--3 margin in tie-breaker.

Army and National team striker Nawayug Shrestha struck a goal in the 69th minute before Farwest Binod KC equalised on the 82nd minute of the game after first half ended in a stalemate.

Army's Bharat Khawas, Navayug Shrestha, Deep Lama, Bibek Basnet and Bikesh Kuthu converted their spot kicks before Army custodian returned to post to smothered a rebound of Farwest Rakesh Hamal's spot kick.

Farwest XI players Chetan Tharu, Narendra Chaudhray and Bhogendra Chaudhray successfully converted their kicks.

Army goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu was later adjudged as man of the match for his match winning performance. He collected Rs 5,000.

In tomorrow's game Three Star Club will take on Sankata Club, according to the organisers.
